‘FLAT’ FEET — fallen arch problems.
Amazingly many people complain of ‘flat’ feet or arch problems, what they are really describing is an over-pronated foot. That is a foot that rolls inwards excessively. Not only can this condition cause problems with bulging of the inner side of shoes but can cause lower leg and knee discomfort. The condition can happen at any age but is often seen in people who are overweight or elderly. Walking or running with the foot excessively over pronating certainly causes, with time , aching pains both in the feet and in the legs and can be associated with other problems like bunions, callouses, heel pains and neuroma.
What can be done to help?
Orthaheel (See ‘Insoles + Orthotics’ in our on-line Catalogue) SLIMFIT Ladies to fit in most high heels and dress shoes Regular for mens shoes or Ladies flat shoes. The Orthotic controls the excess pronation that causes discomfort benefiting people who spend many hours on their feet standing on hard floors. The slimfit version allows women not only to wear dress shoes comfortably for special occasions but those who wear fashion shoes as part of their work attire, e.g. in shops etc. Shin pain or shin splints can also be improved with Orthotics as they reduce the stetching of the Anterior & Posterior Tibialis muscle, shin splints are something many new walkers and runners complain of. |

Orthotic management ( a special kind of insole) can help as can be seen from the illustration. The foot on the left indicates the over pronation that can give considerable discomfort and problems with footwear, the foot on the right gives an idea of the correction that can be achieved with a resultant improvement in posture. |
